Each year a host of students, teachers, architects, housing professionals, sponsors, and bankers contribute to the success of the Affordable Housing Development Competition. Below is a list of some of the people who made this year's competition possible.

Claremont-McCarthy Project: Members of the Claremont-McCarthy team were Diana Bernal, Whitney Foutz, Ray Hodges, and Leslie Mullins of MIT; and Jesse Givens and Sarah Nurmela of Harvard University.

The team's faculty advisor was Langley Keyes, associate department head at MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Regional Planning.

The team's community partner was Normand Grenier of Neighborhood Housing Services of the South Shore.

Its design mentor was Neal Mongold of The Narrow Gate, and the financial mentors were Patricia Capalbo of member Wainwright Bank and Trust Company and Chris Dunn of member South Shore Savings Bank.

Cranberry Heights: Members of the Cranberry Heights team were William J. Carry, Helen Donaldson, and Diana Sherman of MIT; Masato Kametani, Thomas S. Lee, and Mary Elizabeth May of Harvard University; and Nocolas Rioux of Wentworth Institute of Technology.

The team's faculty advisor was Leland Cott of the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Fernald Center: Members of the Fernald Center team were Erin Camarena, Beatriz de la Torre, Mitchell Joachim, and Nadya Nilina of MIT; and Daniel McCue, Cory Schreier, and Audrey Tendell of Harvard University.

The team's faculty advisor was Jim Kostaros of the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

The team's community partner was Betsy Meissner of the Waltham Alliance to Create Housing.

Its design mentor was Rob Chandler of Goody Clancy Architects, and its financial mentors were Richard Muraida of Eastern Bank and Clair DiRosario and John Malvey of Boston Federal Savings Bank.

Madison Park Gateway: Members of the Madison Park Gateway Team were Candace Bertotti, Matthew Comfort, Marc Diaz, and Tad Read of Harvard University; and Scott Francisco, Chris Hodges, and Solana Rice of MIT.

The team's faculty advisor was Lee Cott of the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

The team's community partner was Mark Dinaburg of Madison Park Development Corporation.

Its design mentor was Michael R. Davis of Bergmeyer Associates, Inc., and its financial mentor was William C. Nolan, Jr. of member Central Bank.

Bakery Hill Development: Members of the Bakery Hill Development team were Phillip Dorman of Babson College and Ariel Bierbaum, Brian Cheigh, Anna Frantz, Amy Kohn, and Sarah Shin of MIT.

The team's faculty advisor was Lynn M. Fisher, assistant professor of real estate at MIT.

The team's community partners were Gavin McClear and Marcia Thornhill of Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation.

The team's design mentor was Alberto Cardenas of Domenech Hicks and Krockmalnic, and the group's financial mentor was John Migliozzi of member East Boston Savings Bank.

Washington Allston Artspace: Members of the Washington Allston Artspace team were Emily Breazeale of Tufts University, Paul Humphreys of Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Taran Jefferies, Lindsay Rosenfeld, Ethan Wozniak, and Cheryl Young of Harvard University.

The team's faculty advisor was Weldon Pries of the Wentworth Institute of Technology.

The team's community partner was John J. Woods of the Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation.

The team's design mentor was Chia-Ming Tze of Chia-Ming Tze Architect, Inc., and its financial mentor was Wesley Blair of member Brookline Bank.

The Judges: The following housing professionals served as judges for the 2004 competition:

The Coordinators: This year's student coordinators were Susanna Williams of MIT and Mark Wiranowski of Harvard University. The competition's coordinator was Theo Noell, senior community investment manager at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston.
