Smart Growth America

  Speaker
TOPICS COVERED AND PRESENTATIONS

At the symposium, representatives from each New England state highlighted the smart-growth activity and needs in their respective states and discussed six policy issues: taxes, land use, transportation, housing, economic development, and conservation. Afterwards, a nationally recognized champion of smart growth shared his insights on the state of development.

Senator James M. Jeffords (I-VT), chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee and cochairman of the Smart Growth Task Force, provided the opening remarks. (The senator's Tools article on smart-growth legislative initiatives is available online.)
