Maine Bank Says Yes to Business

Machias Savings Bank, based in Portland, Maine, has been focused on expanding its deposit base and business across Maine and New Hampshire.

In April 2025, the bank announced plans for its first-ever location in New Hampshire, with a new branch in Manchester. Last year, the community bank was successful in growing core deposits over $130 million while its loan growth was over $177 million.

President and CEO Larry Barker discussed the bank’s approach to managing deposit and interest-rate risk, as well as its efforts to improve relationships and update technology to support customers more efficiently.
