Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston (FHLBank Boston) today announced it will donate $250,000 to the Vermont Community Foundation in support of its efforts to help people and communities recover from the flooding experienced in July.

Additional Information About Donation

The foundation established the VT Flood Response & Recovery Fund 2023 in the aftermath of catastrophic flooding and rainstorms. Contributions to the fund will support emergency needs, families, farms, businesses, and communities across Vermont. The foundation is working with local nonprofits, state government, relief organizations and other partners to rebuild.

“Parts of Vermont were devastated by torrential rain and flooding that forced people to evacuate their homes, destroyed local businesses, and damaged the branches and offices of our member financial institutions located in the state. As part of our steadfast commitment to partnering with FHLBank Boston members to support their unique needs, we are eager to provide this donation to assist in the recovery and rebuilding of the communities that our members serve,” said Timothy J. Barrett, president and CEO of FHLBank Boston.

“Vermont’s banking community expresses its deepest appreciation to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston for this incredible donation to assist with flood recovery efforts in Vermont,” said Christopher D’Elia, president of the Vermont Bankers Association. “The storm’s impact is being felt by hundreds of homeowners, businesses, and municipalities across our state. Rebuilding efforts will take years and funds like this will go a long way to help those with the greatest need. They are truly a great partner in serving Vermonters.”
